Jim Hartnett was named the first Director of Community Wide Security at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland in 2013. In the past eight years, Jim has implemented a community-based safety and security initiative for Jewish agencies, schools, and synagogues throughout Greater Cleveland. Jim and his team assist the community with emergency preparedness and crisis management. They offer security training in collaboration with federal, state, and local law enforcement. Jim has also assisted in successfully applying for Department of Homeland Security and Ohio Emergency Management grants for target hardening and security training for Jewish agencies across the community.
Jim has 29 years of investigative and managerial experience with the Federal Bureau of Investigation leading and directing programs in transnational narcotics, organized crime, field intelligence, domestic/international terrorism, crisis management and infrastructure protection.
Jim has an Undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York. He is a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and has attended Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, Illinois.
