Daniel M. Albert, Assistant Director, Office of Counter Terrorism, New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services

Dan Albert has been employed by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES), Office of Counter Terrorism (OCT), since October 2006, and currently manages the Public Safety Unit.  Assigned duties include the oversight and implementation of New York State’s Red Team program, which entails coordination of federal, state, and local law enforcement across the State to conduct unannounced, real-time exercises to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of New York State’s suspicious activity reporting programs and counter terrorism posture.  Dan also serves as an Emergency Services liaison to the New York State Intelligence Center (NYSIC) and a manager of the Intelligence Liaison Officer (ILO) program to support information and intelligence sharing amongst the fire and emergency medical services first responder community.  Dan possesses a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Public Security from Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at SUNY Albany, a Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Plattsburgh, and has been certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) since 2002.
