2026 Call for Presentations - OPEN

Every year, the National Homeland Security Conference brings together  over a thousand attendees from the homeland security and emergency management disciplines, representing local, state, federal government, military, and the private sector.  The National Homeland Security Association is preparing for the 2026 National Homeland Security Conference on August 10 - August 13, 2026!  The conference, hosted in Louisville, Kentucky, promises to be a magnificent draw for homeland security professionals.

For the 2026 conference, the NHSA will be hosting 60-minute presentations within multiple tracks across all homeland security subject areas.  In preparation for this event, the NHSA is officially announcing a call for presentations.

Call for Presentations for the 2026 National Homeland Security Conference is now open.  Those that have sent in presentations will be notified by May 16 - June 16, 2026, whether or not they are a candidate to present.   Candidates must adhere to the timeline below in order to be selected as a presenter; otherwise they will act as an alternate.

Presentations that focus on the National Priority Areas (NPAs) will be given special consideration.  These include:

 - Enhancing the Protection of Soft Targets/Crowded Places (Securing Public Gathering Places)
 - Enhancing Cybersecurity
 - Supporting Homeland Security Task Forces and Fusion Centers
 - Enhancing Election Security
 - Supporting Border Crisis Response and Enforcement

Other welcomed topics include:
 - Findings from After-Action Reports
 - Case Studies
 - Active Shooter
 - Emergency Management
 - Fire Rescue and Emergency Response
 - Cybersecurity, Mental Health
 - Personnel Recruitment and Retainment
 - Policy and Law
 - Best Practices and Lessons Learned
 - Counterterrorism
 - Grants and Program Management
 - Planning
 - Protecting Critical Infrastructure and Communities
 - Public Health
 - Training and Exercise
 - Human Trafficking
 - Emerging Technologies such as AI, Drones, and Counter Drone Activities
 - Whole Community Engagement
 - Port and Transit Security
 - Protecting Schools and Faith-based Organizations
 - Intelligence and Information Sharing
 - Countering Violent Extremism

Timeline:

Time is of the essence.  Many of our peers cannot register for the conference until a presentation schedule is available.  Therefore, please be sure you can adhere to the following schedule before making a commitment to become a presenter. 

  • November 26th, 2025 – April 15th, 2026 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST)  - Call for Presentations – to include all presenter’s bios and a draft PowerPoint presentation. Proposals that are late or incomplete will not be accepted. Candidate photos are optional, but if presenter(s) wants to provide, it is also due at time of submission.
  • May 16th – June 15th, 2026 – Candidates for presentation are notified - Notification of candidacy to present does not guarantee a session – sessions are selected once a candidate’s final PowerPoint presentation is approved, and they have registered on or before July 10th.  
  • July 10th, 2026 – Final day for candidates to register for the conference and submit draft presentation.

           Please note:  Failure to comply with this timeline will result in losing your opportunity to present
