Every year, the National Homeland Security Conference brings together  over a thousand attendees from the homeland security and emergency management disciplines, representing local, state, federal government, military, and the private sector.  The National Homeland Security Association is preparing for the 2024 National Homeland Security Conference on July 22 - July 25, 2024!  The conference, hosted in Miami, promises to be a magnificent draw for homeland security professionals.

For the 2024 conference, the NHSA will be hosting 60-minute presentations within multiple tracks across all homeland security subject areas.  In preparation for this event, the NHSA is officially announcing a call for presentations.

Call for Presentations for the 2024 National Homeland Security Conference is now CLOSED.  Those that have sent in presentations will be notified by March 1st, 2024, whether or not they are a candidate to present.   Candidates must adhere to the timeline below in order to be selected as a presenter; otherwise they will act as an alternate.

The proposed session tracks include:
 - Combating Domestic Violent Extremism
 - Community Preparedness and Resilience - The National Priority Areas (NPAs) now include Community Preparedness and Resilience and require at least three percent (3%) of UASI funding to go toward this NPA.  Presentation topics would include how urban areas are meeting this requirement.
 - Counterterrorism
 - Cybersecurity
 - Enhancing Information and Intelligence Sharing
 - Grants and Program Management
 - Health Security – This track title chanced from Public Health in order to focus on both the public health and medical response sides of the field to be more inclusive to anyone responsible for these health and safety concerns.
 - Lessons Learned from Recent Events and Exercises
 - Personnel, Policy, and Mental Health – Topics may include mental health of first responders, recruitment and retention, governmental policy and/or law within the homeland security spectrum.
 - Planning
 - Protecting Critical Infrastructure
 - Training and Exercise

Timeline:

Time is of the essence.  Many of our peers cannot register for the conference until a presentation schedule is available.  Therefore, please be sure you can adhere to the following schedule before making a commitment to become a presenter. 

• October 13th, 2023 – January 19th, 2024 - Call for Presentations – to include all presenter’s bios
• January 23rd -  March 1st, 2024 – Candidates for presentation are notified - Notification of candidacy to present does not guarantee a session – sessions are only guaranteed once a candidate completes registration and turns in a draft PowerPoint presentation on or before the due date
• May 22nd, 2024 – Final day for candidates to register for the conference and submit draft presentation
•                 June 21st, 2024 – Final PowerPoint presentations due

Please note:  Failure to comply with this timeline will result in losing your opportunity to present

Although no guarantee can be made that your presentation proposal will be accepted beyond the Janyary 19, 2024 deadline, special considerations could be made in extenuating circumstances.
